Associate Pastor for Youth and Missions
First Baptist Church of Knoxville, Tennessee
The Youth and Missions Pastor will be responsible for the overall vision and program for two key areas of our church: youth (ages 6th-12th grade) and missions. The youth aspect of this position (20-25 hours/week) consists of developing and implementing a comprehensive program of discipleship, outreach, and service among the youth of our church. The missions component of this position (15-20 hours/week) entails giving leadership to our local and international missions, including hands-on service, mission trips, and relationship cultivation among our mission partners. The Youth and Missions Pastor will participate and contribute to staff and church meetings. Essential job duties include:
Youth
Recruit and train and volunteers for efficient implementation of the church youth program;
Provide counseling to youths and help them realize their individual goals;
Administer and plan numerous youth programs like outreach, retreats, Bible study sessions, and summer mission/discipleship trips;
Meet regularly with parents of youth group members and coordinate with them regarding their childrens involvement and participation in the church;
Assist in organizing and compiling of Sunday school curriculum; and
Train youths on how to be future faith-filled leaders and set up programs to facilitate
spiritual growth.
Missions
Develop and empower key leaders to build teams to implement strategies for missions in alignment with First Baptists vision;
Lead the First Baptists local mission operations;
Regularly communicate the vision of First Baptists missions to the congregation,
mission partners and volunteer leaders;
Establish and maintain relationships with both local and global mission partners;
Collaborate with the Mission Council as an ex-officio member to develop strategic
systems for choosing new local and global mission partners;
Develop a yearly budget for FBCs mission efforts and responsibly steward those
funds.
