Looking back, Mallory Homeyer (Truett Seminary and Baylor School of Social Work student) recalls how her desire to help other people was nurtured during her early years at First Baptist Church of Kenedy, where her mother was deeply involved in Woman's Missionary Union.
Longtime Baylor University supporter and Alumna Honoris Causa Eula Mae Baugh passed away Aug. 29 in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 89. Baugh and her late husband, John F. Baugh, were ardent supporters of Baylor Univeristy and Truett Seminary. The Baughs made the lead gift to construct a permanent home for the seminary in 1997.
Students from Baylor's George W. Truett Theological Seminary trained future Kenyan leaders in HIV/AIDS education, evangelism, church leadership and community development, as well as business sustainability. The teams worked with several faith-based organizations in order to accomplish their goals.
Former Truett Seminary Assistant Dean, René Maciel, will be installed as the seventh President of The Baptist University of the Americas on September 28th. Truett professor, Dr. Hulitt Gloer, will deliver the inaugural address.
Thirty-six prospective church starters attended the boot camp July 29-Aug. 3 at Baylor University's Truett Seminary in Waco, Texas. The Fellowship co-sponsored the fourth annual boot camp with American Baptist Churches USA and Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT). The event offers opportunities for networking, learning about practical resources and assessing ministerial gifts and calling.
