Welcome to the Certificate Program through Truett Seminary and Baylor University.
This program is designed for people who want the education and confidence that comes with a seminary education, but who do not have the finances, schedule, or inclination/ability to go to seminary. In particular our Certificate of Christian Foundation is to help equip lay-people with foundational learning in Scripture, theology, and the church.
We desire to see your faith and understanding transformed in the ways that a Truett Seminary experience is often known for. Whether you are a church volunteer, Sunday School teacher, church leader, or simply a Christian desiring to further your faith, we feel that a solid foundation set of courses in the Certificate Program will help you to understand Scripture better, and understand your faith with more vibrancy and life.
Students are assigned readings and simple course assignments that are completed and turned in online. Assignments are short, but intended to prompt thinking and reflection, and students will progress from one course to the next until finished.
Studies in the Certificate of Ministry Program are self-directed. There are no classes to attend (unless you participate in an optional cohort at a participating church - contact us about these options), and the weekly assignments are very modest.
We understand the difficulties of managing commitments of work, rest, family, ministry, and studies. This program is designed to allow you to determine how it might best fit in your schedule.
|CMP00||8 weeks||(Orientation to studies and to Christ, and being spiritually formed to be Christlike)|
|CMP01-05||12 weeks each||(Five foundational courses in Scripture, Theology, and Church History)|
Our first course is 8 weeks long and is intended to get students oriented to Christ and to their studies, the 5 remaining core courses are 12 weeks each. The entire Certificate of Christian Foundation is intended to be completed in around 16 months of very manageable study.
Each course costs $250 - which includes registration fees, technology fees, and books, and materials. Which are yours to keep. Courses are paid for as you take them, and if you are unable to pay the $250 course cost up front, and would like to arrange a payment plan, or to inquire about group/family discounts, or other discounts and scholarships, please contact the Certificate of Ministry Program office at Truett_Certificate@baylor.edu.
