Alumni Updates

Dr. Josh Kulak (MDiv ’12) completed a PhD in Theology and Religious Studies at Liverpool Hope University studying through the Andrew F. Walls Centre for the Study of African and Asian Christianity.  His thesis was entitled “The Sannyasi and the Bishop: A comparative study of Bede Griffiths and Lesslie Newbigin’s ‘Approaches to Hinduism based on their Theologies of Religions and Christian Witness.”

Emily McGowin (MDiv ’07) was promoted to Assistant Professor of Theology at Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL). She was ordained a priest in the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) and has been appointed Canon Theologian for the Diocese of Churches for the Sake of Others (C4SO) by Bishop Todd Hunter.

Janet Galarza (MDiv ’00) and her husband, Stephen (MDiv ’00), welcomed baby Emilia on October 3, 2019, and moved to Corpus Christi for Stephen’s job as BSM Director at TAMUCC and Del Mar College.

Matt Steen (MDiv/MBA ’17) relocated to Orlando where he leads Chemistry Staffing, a company that helps churches find pastoral staff.

Megan Pike (MDiv ’14) and husband Marty (MDiv ’14) welcomed their daughter, Madge, in November 2018. Megan started a new position as staff chaplain at Blessing Health System in Quincy, IL in January 2020.

Dr. Mark T. Goodman (MDiv ’97) published The Ordinary Way: A Unique Way to Live in April 2020. He wrote the book to help people appreciate their God-given talents and personalities.

Derek Hatch (MDiv ’06) has taken a new position as Endowed Chair of Baptist Studies and Associate Professor of Religion at Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Chris McLain (MDiv ’14) is now pastor of FBC Bandera, Texas.

Wade Arnold (MDiv ’00) accepted the call to be Senior Pastor of Clemmons First Baptist Church in Clemmons, North Carolina in August 2020.
