Transfer Student Success Leadership

You've made Baylor your home, now join the family! Meet and befriend other transfers by getting involved with the transfer student community.  Currently we are seeking a diverse group of transfer students to serve as student leaders in the Transfer Student Success office.  Positions include Transfer Mentors, Transfer Guides, Transfer Ambassadors, or Transfer Event Team.  You can find out more about each position in the descriptions below. Transfer Student Leadership Teams

Transfer Mentor Team

A Transfer Mentor is a volunteer position serving as an intentional resource, guide, and friend to small group of incoming transfer students to aid in their transition to Baylor.  Training for this program is necessary and weekly involvement are expected, especially during the first 6 weeks of the semester.  Mentors will ideally be matched with students based on common major, interest, housing, etc.

  • GPA Minimum: 2.75 GPA
  • Time Expectation: 2-3 hours per week
  • Training: End of Spring Semester & Beginning of fall semester
  • Meetings: Bi-Weekly, plus regular communication with “Transfer Guide”
  • Busy Season: First 6 weeks of the fall and spring semester
  • Type of Position: Volunteer

 

Transfer Ambassador Team

A Transfer Ambassador is a welcoming presence to prospective or incoming transfer students.  As a Baylor Transfer Advisor, you will have the opportunity to meet prospective students and families at visit days, like Premier and Transfer Fridays.  Additionally, Ambassadors will contact students via email, phone, text, social media, or letter, to encourage and care for students on a one on one, individual level.  When possible, students will be paired with these students based on major, home town, life situation, club or organization, etc.

  • GPA Minimum: 2.5 GPA
  • Time Expectation: 1-2 hours per week
  • Training: End of Spring Semester & Beginning of fall semester
  • Meetings: Monthly, plus regular communication with “Transfer Guide”
  • Busy Season: Throughout the semester, and summer
  • Type of Position: Volunteer
Transfer Event Team

The transfer events team is a small group of transfer students who plan, implement, and attend regular transfer events designed to care for and help transfer students engage and succeed at Baylor. 

  • GPA Minimum: 2.5 GPA
  • Time Expectation: 1-2 hours per week
  • Training: End of Spring Semester & Beginning of fall semester
  • Meetings: Monthly, plus regular communication with “Transfer Guide”
  • Busy Season: First 6 weeks of the fall and spring semester
  • Type of Position: Volunteer
Transfer Guide

The transfer Guide is a group of three students who work directly with the Transfer Student Success Program Director to offer direction to, and vision for one of the three Transfer Leadership Teams, (Transfer Event Team, Transfer Mentors, or Transfer Ambassadors).   Transfer Guides will serve as the primary supporter, leader, and mentor of their their respective Transfer Leadership Team.

  • GPA Minimum: 3.0 GPA
  • Time Expectation: 3-4 hours per week
  • Training: End of Spring Semester & Beginning of fall semester
  • Meetings: Monthly, plus regular communication with “Transfer Guide”
  • Busy Season: First 6 weeks of the fall and spring semester
  • Type of Position: Paid- Roughly $300 per semester
