Sally Lynn Askins received her MFA from Trinity University at the Dallas Theater Center and received an MA in Theatre and BFA in Art from Stephen F. Austin University. As a member of the resident professional company, Sally designed costumes and special projects for the Dallas Theater Center. Her other design credits include design for the Dallas Children's Theater, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Stage One, Theatre Three, Callier Theatre for the Deaf, Shreveport Little Theatre, The Arts Magnet High School, and Flagstaff Festival for the Arts. As a designer for Willis’ Ballet and Russia’s St. Petersburg Classical Ballet, her costume and scenic designs have toured Europe and South America. Sally has taught at Northern Arizona University, Texas Tech University, Trinity University's graduate school at the Dallas Theater Center, and the Arts Magnet High School.
She has designed over seventy productions at Baylor since joining the faculty in 1993. She currently serves on many arts related boards and is the artist in residence for Seeds of Hope, a publication providing worship resources promoting meaningful conversation about hunger and poverty.
