NETWORK OF HUNGER FREE COMMUNITY COALITIONS

NETWORK OF HUNGER FREE COMMUNITY COALITIONS

We are building a Network to bring together Hunger Free Community Coalitions from across the state to learn from each other and lay the groundwork for a statewide, bottom-up approach to ending hunger in Texas. The focus of the Network is to create a space to learn about and share resources and best practices in creating strong, sustainable coalitions, implementing innovative collaborative projects and engaging in effective public policy work.

Coalitions that are members of the Network will have access to the following:

  • Online Resource Bank and Calendar – a catalogue of hands-on materials and learning opportunities shared by member coalitions and THI staff (e.g. sample meeting agendas, project planning guides)
  • Network Newsletter – a venue for spotlighting innovative practices from member coalitions as well as research, policy and project updates
  • Regional and Statewide Gatherings – occasions for Network members to meet in-person for information exchanges, workshops, and events (including the annual THI Hunger Summit)
  • Quarterly Conference Calls – an opportunity for Network members to share best practices with each other, as well as learn about helpful tools and resources

In the future, we plan to also provide Network members with opportunities to access mini-grants to support their work.

Participating in the Network

Our goal is to bring together all coalitions focused on actively reducing hunger and food insecurity across the state, whether labeled Hunger Free Community Coalitions, Food Policy Councils or anything else. THI Network of Hunger Free Community Coalitions logo

We encourage you to consider joining the Network if your coalition meets the following criteria:

  1. Hunger or healthy food access is a priority even if not the sole focus;
  2. Action-oriented and not just focused on networking and information-sharing; and
  3. Multi-organization in leadership and participation.

If you are part of a coalition focused on reducing food insecurity and are interested in joining the Network, please fill out the application and submit to our Statewide Organizing Director at Marc_Jacobson@baylor.edu. There is no cost to join.
