CLEP Exams

Note: Due to construction around the Robinson Tower and limited parking at the Tower, we have temporarily relocated our testing location to the Sid Richardson Building (within the Career Center, West Wing). We will only be able to administer one exam at a time, therefore we are limiting in-person testing to Baylor students.

CLEP exams may be taken at any CLEP Testing Center or through the new at-home CLEP Exams with remote proctoring. Please review the CLEP website for the requirements to test at home.

Students should select Baylor as the score recipient when completing the online CLEP registration. The CLEP testing fee is $90 (fee will change to $93 beginning July 1, 2023) which you will pay for and receive a voucher via the CLEP website https://clep.collegeboard.org. You must bring a printed copy of this voucher with you when you test on campus.

To schedule a testing date at Baylor University, send an email to student_testing@baylor.edu. Include your name, the exam you are registering for, and your telephone number. A member of our staff will contact you to make the testing arrangements. For tests administered by Baylor, there is an administrative fee of $40. After you have secured a testing date with our office, we will send you a confirmation email with a link for making payment online using a credit card. If you cancel your testing date and request a refund, there will be a $5 processing fee deducted from the refund.

The CLEP Subject Examinations measure achievement in specific subject areas. These exams require college-level knowledge and critical thinking ability; sufficient preparation is required to do well. CLEP tests are given at most colleges and universities nationwide. You can view a list of test centers from the CLEP website at https://clep.collegeboard.org.

Baylor does not require the optional essay section on any of the CLEP exams. Other Credit by Exam policies are available at CBE Policies. Should you need to retest, CLEP has a three month retest policy.

The table below indicates the exams that have been approved for receiving credit at Baylor and the minimum scores required. CLEP exams are administered by appointment only. Note that the number of credit hours for each Baylor course is denoted by the second digit of the course number. Therefore, Political Science 1305 is a 3-hour course, while Biology 1401 is a 4-hour course.

If a test is not listed, then Baylor does not accept that exam for credit. We do not issue "elective credit" for credit by exam.
