Campus Programs

Baylor Campus Programs is a major branch of the Department of Student Activities and home to Baylor's three student-led programming boards: Baylor Activities Council, Union Board, and Student Productions. Each one has a slightly different focus, but they all serve the same mission - plan the events that define the Baylor experience. These are the groups that create Baylor's major events, such as Sundown Sessions, Sing, and Christmas on 5th Street.

Chamber of Commerce

The Baylor Chamber of Commerce exists to preserve and protect the traditions of Baylor University. For over 100 years the Chamber has maintained some of the most important aspects of Baylor culture. Today they organize Homecoming, Diadeloso, and Family Weekend, lead the Baylor Line during football season, care for Baylor’s live black bears, provide on-campus publicity for student organizations and do whatever is necessary to help make Baylor the vibrant community that we know and love. The students who care most deeply for their school will eventually find themselves here.

Dr Pepper Hour

In 1953, a Baylor staff member began to serve “frosted Coke” to students in the still-new Student Union Building’s Barfield Drawing Room. The informal gathering offered students a chance to socialize and escape the typical school day. 69 years later, that tradition continues — every Tuesday, from 3-4 p.m., still in the Barfield Drawing Room. Originally known as “Coke Hour,” the event switched to “Dr Pepper Hour” in 1997 when the Waco-born beverage became one of the university’s official soft drinks. Dr Pepper Hour is now one of Baylor’s oldest traditions, having started the same year as All University Sing. For comparison, the “Sic'em, Bears!” yell didn’t come along until 1960, and the Baylor Line wasn’t started until a decade after that.

Fraternity and Sorority Life

Baylor Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) is a diverse community with over 40 inter/national and local organizations. This community offers its members opportunities to expand their undergraduate experience through service, leadership, campus involvement, academic excellence, spiritual growth and brotherhood and sisterhood. Being involved in a fraternity or sorority is one of the most fulfilling and meaningful experiences offered to Baylor students.

Baylor Spirit & Traditions

From running the Baylor Line to attending ESPN College Gameday, there are a wide variety of opportunities to come early, be loud, stay late and Sic 'em Bears! Learn more about our cherished gameday traditions here.

Student Activities

Student Activities encompasses nine areas with the Division of Student Life. The areas include Student Organizations, Campus Programs, Greek Life, Chamber of Commerce, Student Foundation, Waco Hall, Spirit & Traditions, Student Productions, and the Student Union. The Department mission and subsequent learning outcomes support our desire to transform and engage students through campus involvement. We accomplish this mission by connecting students to their unique experience through meaningful involvement and authentic leadership opportunities within the rich traditions of Baylor University.

Student Foundation

Since 1969, Student Foundation has passionately served Baylor University and its students by recruiting qualified students, raising scholarship funds, and building goodwill among alumni and friends. When students don the green-and-white striped jersey, they put on much more than a shirt. The Student Foundation jersey stands for a passion for Baylor and a legacy of service. Through opportunities to lead, serve and give, the select group of students wearing the green-and-white striped jersey of Student Foundation take their place among Baylor's greatest advocates.

Student Involvement

Student Involvement provides countless opportunities for students to get involved. Through more than 375+ Baylor-recognized student organizations, the Baylor Activities Council, Chamber of Commerce, Student Foundation, Student Productions, Union Board, and Greek Life, we encourage you to find your fit. These groups sponsor, create, and facilitate more than 10,000 events per year. CONNECT is our online hub for campus involvement. Log in with your Bear ID to search for student organizations, explore campus events, communicate with organization leaders, find community service opportunities, vote in student elections, and more!

Student Productions

Student Productions enhances student learning by providing students opportunities to share their God-given talents and gifts within a performance setting. Student Productions compliments the mission of the Department of Student Activities by encouraging the formation of community, enhancing the leadership ability of students, refining their communication skills, and providing opportunities for stewardship and the adoption of a larger perspective for social concerns. Through this, Student Productions continues some of the greatest traditions shared by the Baylor community.

Student Union

As the home for the Department of Student Activities, the Bill Daniel Student Center (BDSC) or otherwise known as the "heart of the campus," provides a place to relax, study and participate in activities that build an enduring loyalty between members of the Baylor community and to the university itself. Our late night night/weekend programming model known as Sundown Sessions is dedicated to providing dynamic and entertaining events, throughout the year, that enhance the overall Baylor experience. Hosted every Friday and Saturday from 9pm-1am, Sundown Sessions offers a variety of programs such as movie nights, live musical performances, and interactive activities that provide pathways for authentic connection, inclusive community and a place to call home.

Waco Hall

Located near the heart of the Baylor University campus, across the mall from the Pat Neff administration building, Waco Hall is the premiere large event venue in Waco. From All-University Sing, the Waco Symphony Orchestra and the Mr. and Miss Juneteenth Pageant to After Dark and Pigskin Revue, Waco Hall has been a staple on the Baylor campus for nearly one hundred years. Opening its doors in May of 1930 during the presidency of Samuel Brooks, the Waco Hall stage has seen tens of thousands of Baylor students through its doors as well as dignitaries and celebrities from across the world. Operating within the Department of Student Activities, Waco Hall hosts many other student organization events such as Asianfest, Gateway to India, Gospel Fest and many more.
