Admission to the Department of Statistical Sciences requires a bachelor's degree from an institution in the United States, or proof of equivalent training at a foreign university. For additional admission requirements, please go to prerequisites for degrees.
You will need to submit the application online and pay the $50 application fee. Required supplemental application materials are official GRE scores sent from ETS (and TOEFL scores for international students), three letters of recommendation, official transcripts from all colleges or universities that you have attended, along with proof of degree for institutions outside of the U.S.
For maximum possible consideration, applications for the Summer and Fall terms should be received by January 15. We generally only accept new students in the Summer and Fall semesters.
Your application is complete when all required application materials have been submitted: three letters of recommendation, official GRE scores (and TOEFL scores for international students), official transcripts from all colleges or universities you have attended, and proof of degree if the university is not in the U.S. You also need to submit a personal statement about your interest in an advanced statistics degree.
Please send all application materials directly to the Graduate School at the following mailing address:

Waco, Texas 76798-7264
As an international applicant, you still need to provide the Graduate School with the same required materials as other applicants. A complete application consists of an application for Graduate Admission, all official transcripts, applicable test scores, professional letters of recommendation, and the application fee. In addition, please request that the official scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) be sent to the Graduate School (CEEB Code: 6032). If you have a degree conferred by a U.S.-accredited higher education institution, the TOEFL is not required. If you have any non-English transcripts, you will need to have them translated by an official translating agency. Please contact Educational Credential Evaluators, World Education Services, or Global Credential Evaluators in order to get an official translation of your transcripts.
Professional recommendations are to be written on institutional or business letterhead; there is no standard form to be used.
There is a non-refundable application fee of $50 that must be submitted with the application; applications lacking the fee cannot be processed. The application fee is payable by check or money order (do not send cash).
If you are submitting an online application, you will have the opportunity to pay your application fee via credit card. The payment screen will not appear until you have completed all necessary information and submitted your application. You will not be able to submit your application or pay your fee without answering all required questions (marked with a red asterisk on the online application).
If you prefer to pay by check or money order, please make your check or money order payable to "Baylor University," and mail your payment to the Graduate School:

We do not offer application fee waivers. Applications without the necessary application fee will not be processed.
Please request that official transcripts from each university you have attended for all undergraduate and graduate coursework be sent directly to the Graduate School. (Records for former Baylor University students are already on file in the Academic Records Office. The Graduate School will request the Baylor transcript and copies of any other transcripts that you have previously submitted to Academic Records at Baylor University on your behalf.)
We must receive proof of an earned degree. If the transcript from the school at which you earned your bachelor's, or bachelor's-equivalent, degree does not clearly state proof of degree completion, including the date on which that degree was conferred, you must request that additional documentation, such as an official diploma certificate showing proof of degree, be sent to the Graduate School. International applicants should be particularly mindful of this requirement since transcripts from non-US institutions frequently lack proof of conferred degree information. If you are admitted before receiving your degree and final transcript, you are required to present your final transcript documenting proof of degree to the Graduate School by the first day of class or a hold will be placed on your registration for future terms.
There is no need to apply for a financial assistantship. Financial consideration for new students is made when we examine all applications and make the decision who will receive offers of financial support. The decision is based on grades, GRE scores, recommendation letters, potential for success and similar criteria.
Once your application has been processed, you should receive an email from the Graduate Admissions Office telling you what materials we have not yet received. This email will also provide you with contact information for this department. You may then contact the Statistical Sciences Department directly in order to check on the status of your application.
Because of the way in which the Graduate School processes application materials received in the mail, some documents may take as long as two weeks to be fully processed. Therefore, please allow two weeks processing time from the arrival date of your materials before contacting us about the status of your application.
