After my graduate work and during military service with the U.S. Army, I was stationed at the Johnson Spacecraft Center where I worked on a number of projects (moon rock analysis, powder diffraction patterns, earth observations, management questionnaire assessment). After military service, I worked for 31 years for The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center also in Houston, Texas as a biostatistician. Over this period I helped develop automated and semi-automated analysis of unbanded and banded, metaphase and prophase cell preparations; flow cytometry analysis; analysis of two-dimensional electrophoresis gels; imaging, classification and analysis of stained nuclei as it effects diagnosis and treatment of disease; analysis and comparison of radiographic diagnosis; analysis of prostate cancer progression and simulation of diagnostic methods; analysis and genetic mapping of bladder cancer; analysis of the progression of disease in pediatric cancer patients using minimum residual disease markers.

I retired from U.T. M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in 2004 and came to Baylor University to devote time to teaching statistical methods and training new statisticians. Personally, my wife Janice and I are active members at the Antioch Community Church, in a Life Group there, teach in the training school, and go on missions during the year. I love playing guitar and we regularly play at nursing homes both here and in Ireland. I enjoy golf and reading.
