PEAKS Project

Preparing Educators with Autism Knowledge and Skills

The Preparing Educators with Autism Knowledge and Skills (PEAKS) program provides Texas teachers with specialized professional development in evidence-based practices for students with autism.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend three phases of an online professional development series on evidence-based practices for students with autism. The Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB®) RBT® (Registered Behavior Technician) curriculum will be provided across the series. Participants who complete the program will be eligible to earn the RBT credential.

The professional development series can be completed in 4 to 6 months, but participants may choose to complete only one or two phases in a shorter amount of time. Participants will be asked to respond to a few online surveys before and after completing each phase as part of ongoing research to better understand teachers' experiences using evidence-based practices in the classroom.
