Rick joined the Valero Alamo Bowl as its first Director of Marketing in 1999 and was promoted to this current role as Vice President of Marketing and Communications in 2003. Rick directs the sponsorship sales, service and new business development of the Bowl as well as oversees the organization’s public relations and marketing efforts.
During his tenure, the Valero Alamo Bowl has grown into the #1 bowl game outside of the six College Football Playoff games. Since securing the selection rights to the #1 Big 12 and Pac-12 teams outside of the CFP, the Bowl has featured three straight Top 15 match-ups and averaged a $45 million total economic impact on San Antonio.
Prior to joining the bowl, Rick spent six years working for the San Antonio Spurs where he managed the Spurs community relations activities. Rick’s marketing experience also includes one season with the San Antonio Missions Baseball. A St. Louis native, Rick graduated from Trinity University in 1991.
