BCSL Fellows

BCSL Fellows: Fellows are practitioners who currently serve in the PK-12 space. BCSL Fellows are skilled facilitators who provide professional learning focused on role-specific leadership development. BCSL Fellows lead institutes and multi-month networks that allow participants to collaborate, enjoy valuable peer learning opportunities, show vulnerability, hear different viewpoints, clarify priorities, and address key educational issues.

Jenny BradyJenny Brady

Jenny Brady serves as Senior Director of Community Engagement at Legacy Christian Academy. She is nationally and internationally recognized as a leader in diversity and inclusion work from a Biblical perspective and has helped many Christian schools develop and implement initiatives with the overall goal of Biblical unity. Her work allows her to express her passion for Biblical diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion while combining her personal experience of growing up in Honduras. Jenny holds an MS in Sociology and a BA in Spanish. In the educational realm, Jenny has worked as a teacher and administrator and is on the Senior Leadership Team at LCA. She is the co-founder of the Christian Educators Diversity Alliance, co-creator of the podcast GRAACE360, and is a speaker, teacher, author, and trainer for schools across the country. 

Kevin BroeneKevin Broene

Kevin Broene began his education career in the Chicago suburbs in the fall of 2005. Currently a middle school Athletic Director and high school Assistant Athletic Director at Grand Rapids Christian High School (Michigan), Kevin has a variety of educational leadership experience. He has also coached a myriad of teams, from the middle school level up to head varsity coach. Kevin earned a master’s degree in Educational Administration in 2010. In 2018, he was named Athletic Director of the Year by the, in part for his work in the development of the Grit Leadership program, and in 2021 he was awarded Regional Coach of the Year for the application of his Grit Leadership work with boys’ varsity golf. Kevin’s Grit evaluation software, training programs, and practical experiences have touched more than 100 schools and is directly impacting schools in 12 states, 48 school systems, and counting.

Joel HazardJoel Hazard

Joel Hazard is in his seventeenth year as a Christian school educator. He currently serves as the Head of Academic Collaboration and Culture at Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, Ga. Joel has a master’s degree in educational leadership, as well as a specialist degree in educational leadership for learning from Kennesaw State University. Joel has a passion for school leadership, curriculum development, and is a champion of diversity within the Christian school sector. His efforts focus on professional development, curricular enhancements, and the creation of a learning environment that is biblically inclusive, and culturally proficient in preparing students to thrive in a globally connected world.

Dr. Chris HobbsDr. Christopher Hobbs

Dr. Chris Hobbs is a 20-year veteran of Christian education holding positions of teacher, coach, student minister, principal, athletic administrator, & executive director in the suburbs of Washington D.C., New York City, West Palm Beach, and Houston. In his current role as Director of Institutional Advancement at Second Baptist School, he provides global leadership to admissions, advancement, communications, and marketing for four campuses, two models of education, and nearly 2,000 students. During his time as an athletic director, he was named a Top 40 Under 40 Sports Leader by Coach and AD magazine and the National High School AD of the Year by BSN - Varsity Brands. As a blogger, podcast guest, and keynote presenter, Hobbs’ insights on leadership are regularly featured in the educational, non-profit, and corporate spaces. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education, a master’s degree in sports coaching, an educational specialist and Doctor of Education in educational leadership and is a certified master athletic administrator from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and holds a certificate in organizational leadership from Northwestern’s Kellogg’s School of Business.

Jeff HornerJeff Horner

Jeff Horner has 21 years of experience working in independent Christian schools and was recently named Vice President of Academics at Grapevine Faith Christian School in Grapevine, Texas. Jeff has served schools in North Carolina, California, and Georgia. His primary work and research interests are in data analysis, curriculum, blended learning, and the integration of faith and learning. In addition to his work for schools, he has served as SAIS Visiting Team Chair, doctoral supervisor, and been second reader on over a dozen different doctoral defenses. He holds degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill, the University of Bristol (England), and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He will complete the process of bridging his EdD research into a PhD in Educational Leadership in May 2023.

Anna SurrattAnna Surratt

Anna Surratt serves as the Director of Lower School for Norfolk Christian Schools where she also supports leadership development and strategic planning. Prior to entering Christian education and leadership in 2021, Ms. Surratt served as a middle school math and science teacher in both public and charter schools, as well as a Math Specialist and later Assistant Principal for Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Ms. Surratt holds a B.A. in Middle Grades Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduate endorsements in mathematics from the University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary. She earned her master’s degree in School Leadership and Supervision from Old Dominion University.
