Why did you choose Baylor's MSW Program?
  • I remember when I was a Junior in undergrad walking into the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work doors for Preview Day in January. I remember how kind all the staff, faculty, and GA’s were. As I learned more about the program and about the building I knew this is where I wanted to be. The MSW program was very communicative with my application process in answering my questions and concerns. The school continued to keep in contact with me and I knew that if I was accepted to the program they would help me be successful
What is a cause you are passionate about?
  • My biggest passion is advocating for first generation students to have equal access to higher education. I also really enjoy working with older adults who are 55+, and the mental health population
How does a Master of Social Work degree fit into your career plan?
  • I hope to receive my LMSW then work in the area of Austin where I can work in a nonprofit or hospital setting for a few years then obtain my LCSW to one day have my own private practice.
What is a piece of advice you would give a prospective student
  • Graduate school is a big commitment! If you are willing to put in the time and effort you will learn so much about yourself and getting to work with clients in your field placement makes all the sacrifices worth every second. Be ready to navigate time management and ready to work hard!
Unique characteristics about yourself
  • First generation student
