Why did you choose Baylor's MSW Program?
  • I remember when I was a Junior in undergrad walking into the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work doors for Preview Day in January. I remember how kind all the staff, faculty, and GA’s were. As I learned more about the program and about the building I knew this is where I wanted to be. The MSW program was very communicative with my application process in answering my questions and concerns. The school continued to keep in contact with me and I knew that if I was accepted to the program they would help me be successful. The program's uniqueness in a degree that looks at the holistic individual and prepares social workers in a Christian concept for the client we work with.
What is a cause you are passionate about?
  • My biggest passion is advocating for first generation students to have equal access to higher education. I also really enjoy working with older adults who are 55+ and working in the area of mental health..
How does a Master of Social Work degree fit into your career plan?
  • I hope to receive my LMSW then work in the area of Austin area to become a medical social worker then work towards my LCSW to one day have my own private practice.
What is a piece of advice you would give a prospective student
  • Graduate school is a big commitment! If you are willing to put in the time and effort you will learn so much about yourself and place no limitation for yourself.
    • I am a First-generation student who was part of Breakthrough Central Texas. I am super excited to be another first-generation student as I finish my master’s degree and be the first in my entire family.
