Standard Requirements

Students who have earned a bachelor’s from an accredited institution in the United States or proof of equivalent education at an international institution of higher learning can apply for the Standard MSW program, and full time students can complete their MSW in two years.

To be considered for admission to the standard MSW program, students must submit a completed application which includes:

    • Online GoGarland Application
    • $45 Application Fee
    • GSSW Financial Aid Form
    • Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA) or Financial Aid Profile (CSS)for international applicants only
    • Letters of recommendation: At least one of your three letters of recommendation must be from an academic professor who has direct knowledge of your academic work.
    • Transcripts from all previous institutions.

    Additionally, a citizen of the United States who has received their undergraduate degree from an institution outside the United States or Canada, please follow the instructions for international transcripts here

    Prerequisite Requirements

    Students pursuing the MSW degree are also required to obtain a baccalaureate degree which includes coursework that demonstrates a strong liberal arts background including:

      • Human Biology (3 semester hours) OR by passing the GSSW human biology exam
      • Statistics (3 semester hours) OR by taking the online GSSW statistics course and passing the exam

    Note: Students admitted to the MSW program are expected to complete all prerequisite requirements prior to their New Student Orientation.
