Scholarship: Jerry & Christi Haag SW Schp

Information: The Jerry T. and Christi J. Haag Family Endowed Scholarship Fund in Social Work was established in 2011 by Jerry and Christi Haag of Waco, Texas in response to the President Starr’s scholarship initiative. Dr. Jerry Haag earned a B.B.A. degree in 1988 and an M.B.A. degree in 1989 from Baylor University. In 1995, he earned a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. In April 2011, Dr. Haag was appointed vice president for university development at Baylor University. Previously, he served as president of the Florida Baptist Children’s Home. He has led and participated in humanitarian aid, emergency relief, childcare, and ministry to children and families in numerous countries around the world. Dr. Haag was named Outstanding Young Alumnus by the Baylor University Alumni Association in 2005. Christi Haag earned a B.S.Ed. degree from Baylor University in 1988. In 2009, she helped form “Women of Purpose Speak,” which holds women’s retreats, local and global mission conferences, marriage conferences, and parenting events. Christi has traveled to various countries for mission and education purposes, and is a strong advocate for orphans and the poor. Dr. Haag and Christi have two sons: Ben and Brady.

Comments: Preference to those pursuing a career working internationally

Criteria:  For Undergraduate students in the School of Social Work.

Minimum GPA: The University requires a minimum GPA of 2.50; however, individual departments may have more stringent academic requirements.

Need/Merit: Based on need and merit.
