Baylor Celebrates National STEM Day

Chemistry professor and cancer researcher Daniel Romo

Baylor’s growth as a research university is rooted in its enduring Christian commitment. Across the University, researchers advance knowledge in the STEM fields through a diverse array of interdisciplinary endeavors that include the pursuit of cancer drug breakthroughs, utilizing data to improve water quality, devising new methods to promote sustainable energy, making air travel safer and more. That research foundation is growing as part of a compelling vision, affirmed by strategic investment across the University, to become recognized as a Research 1 (R1) University.

Our pursuit of R1 status is motivated by a desire to illuminate solutions that impact our world. On National STEM Day, we highlight Baylor researchers throughout science, technology, engineering and math disciplines who integrate high-level research with purposeful mentorship of the next generation to advance solutions to some of our world’s greatest challenges, for today and for years to come.

Meet a few shining stars whose researches advances the STEM fields.
