Vice Provost for Research

Dr. Truell W. Hyde (curriculum vitae) serves as the Vice Provost for Research where he works directly with the President and the Executive Vice President and Provost to establish the strategic vision necessary for the development and growth of University research. He provides leadership for all units within the Office of the Vice Provost for Research, tenured, tenure-track and research faculty across Baylor and stands as Dean for the interdisciplinary research centers and institutes answering to the OVPR.

Dr. Hyde also provides vision for the Central Texas Technology and Research Park and its cornerstone, the Baylor Research & Innovation Collaborative (BRIC). The BRIC is based on an entirely new paradigm, providing 340,000 sf of shared workspace occupied by university research, advanced workforce training, technology transfer, industry collaboration, international partnerships, business incubation/acceleration and educational outreach and research.

Dr. Hyde maintains an active and well-funded research program in astrophysics, space physics and complex plasma physics. He is the Director of the Center for Astrophysics, Space Physics & Engineering Research (CASPER) and a tenured professor within the Department of Physics. He is the Senior Editor for IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science (Dusty Plasma) and sits as a member of the Issues and Program Committee for the Universities Space Research Association (USRA). He is also a current member of the Development and Relations Committee and past member of the Jefferson Lab Programs Committee as well as a Board of Trustees member for the Southeastern Universities Research Association (SURA).
