Dr. Lidija Novakovic

Associate Professor of New Testament

In her time at Baylor, Dr. Lidija Novakovic has extended and developed interests in early Jewish and Christian hermeneutics, Jesus’ resurrection, and Johannine studies. She is currently working on a commentary on the Gospel of John for the Smyth & Helwys Bible Commentary Series, which seeks to bridge the gap between the insights of biblical scholarship and the needs of lifelong students of Scripture. She also bridges Old and New Testament studies in her seminar on “The Old Testament in the New Testament,” which attracts significant participation from students in both concentrations. As she considers Baylor’s New Testament area as a whole, Dr. Novakovic observes a range of faculty interests wide enough to support students in any area of research they may desire to pursue. She also notes, across the Department of Religion, a constructive and encouraging drive toward student publication, from helping with next steps for a seminar paper to identifying publishers to approach after a dissertation defense. “We really have that atmosphere here.”
