Faculty Weather Memo

February 19, 2021
Members of the Faculty:

Our thoughts and prayers have been with you and your families as we continue to deal with the aftermath of this unprecedented winter storm for the Waco area and our state. With many of you and a number of students dealing with no water or power, flooded residences due to broken pipes, and spotty Internet service, we ask that you extend grace and understanding to your colleagues and our students as remote instruction resumes today. We request that you offer any necessary accommodations during this time of ongoing crisis for many.

It was important for us to resume class instruction today after missing 5.5 academic days due to the winter storm. Our academic calendar was already compressed due to starting the semester a week later and ending a week earlier because of COVID-19. We are working to reduce the number of make-up days required later in the semester as practicable. We aim to have an updated academic calendar to you in the weeks ahead.

Thank you for your dedication to Baylor and her students.

Sincerely,

Nancy Brickhouse, Ph.D.
Provost
