As the university's chief academic officer, the Provost has responsibility for all of Baylor's academic enterprises including twelve schools and colleges and more than one dozen research centers and institutes. The Provost works closely with the President, deans, department chairs, faculty, Regents, and others to provide academic vision and leadership and to promote and support excellence in teaching, learning, and research within the context of a Christian worldview.

Welcome Provost Brickhouse

Baylor University welcomes alumna Dr. Nancy Brickhouse as provost. Dr. Brickhouse brings a wealth of experience serving 27 years in higher education and academic leadership and will help lead the University toward our goal of becoming the next preeminent Christian research university.

A new Academic Strategic Plan

Baylor University has embarked on a new Academic Strategic Plan—Illuminate—that draws upon the institution’s heritage and commitment to becoming a preeminent Christian research university, as outlined in Pro Futuris.

WACO, Texas (March 8, 2019) – Maxey Parrish, senior lecturer of journalism, public relations and new media in Baylor’s College of Arts & Sciences, was named as a member of the 2019 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame class.
WACO, Texas (March 7, 2019) – Suzanne Nesmith, Ph.D., is passionate about the integration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) across the disciplines, and now she has taken that commitment to new heights as president of the School Science and Mathematics Association.
WACO, Texas (March 5, 2019) – The Baylor University School of Music has announced that internationally recognized violinist Patricia Shih will join its esteemed string faculty. Shih will assume her new role as associate professor of violin on Sept. 1.
