Thanksgiving Blessings!

November 17, 2022

Dear Baylor Family,

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday and look toward the light of Christ to be celebrated at Christmas, I wish to express my personal gratitude – as well as to extend the gratitude of everyone on the faculty and staff of Baylor University – to the Baylor Family for your support of our outstanding students and your contributions to fulfilling the mission of Baylor.

In Psalm 95:2, the Psalmist instructs: “Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.” Our walk together as Christians grows in strength when we express and practice gratitude to God – and to one another. As we celebrate Thanksgiving and engage in all of the family-oriented activities surrounding the holiday, let us also make a joyful noise and give thanks to God for the many blessings he has bestowed upon us.

This Thanksgiving, Baylor is experiencing a period of remarkable growth as we seek God’s guidance in becoming a preeminent Christian research university. During the past year, we have celebrated a number of notable achievements for the University:

  • In December, Baylor learned that the University had achieved Research 1, or “R1,” status, elevating Baylor among the nation’s top research institutions as a doctoral university with very high research activity.
  • In February, Baylor announced that gifts and pledges to the Give Light campaign had surpassed the initial goal of $1.1 billion, establishing the campaign as the most successful fundraising effort in the University’s 177-year history.
  • This fall semester, with the worst of the pandemic behind us, Baylor returned to offering the full Baylor experience that generations of Bears have known and enjoyed. Our student enrollment remained above 20,000 with 43 percent of students coming from outside Texas, reflecting the growing interest across the country in a Baylor education.
  • And in August, Baylor was recognized as one of the Top 10 Most Trusted Universities in the country by global research firm Morning Consult as part of its Most Trusted Brands project.

I am eager to see what God has planned for Baylor’s future and thankful to have the opportunity to work together with my colleagues across campus and with the greater Baylor Family in achieving His plans and expanding the Kingdom of God.

May God bless you and your loved ones as you celebrate Thanksgiving together!

Sincerely,

Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D.
President

We have a lot of traditions at Baylor, but All University Thanksgiving Dinner is a favorite! Thousands of students, faculty and staff gathered Wednesday night in the heart of campus in Thanksgiving for our many blessings and to enjoy a traditional dinner with turkey and all the trimmings prepared by campus dining.
