Baylor Mourns Passing of Grounds Team Member

February 12, 2021

Dear Baylor Family,

It is with great sadness that I share with you the news that one of our dedicated Aramark team members recently lost his life in a battle with COVID-19. We grieve with the family of Mr. Soto and with our Aramark family who so wonderfully add to the beauty of our campus and support our students, faculty and staff. Please join me in praying for the Soto family during this difficult time, and commit with me to do everything we can to protect one another against COVID-19. Our fight against this terrible virus is not yet over.

Sincerely,

Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D.
President

Baylor Mourns Passing of Grounds Team Member

Baylor University is mourning the passing of a member of the University's grounds team.

Jaime Soto, who worked faithfully for Aramark/Baylor Facility Services for six years, passed away Saturday due to complications from COVID-19. He was 57.

"Jaime Soto was a beloved employee who took care of Aramark Grounds for six years," said Mandie Storer, grounds manager for Aramark/Baylor Facility Services. "He was passionate about Baylor and his role in keeping it looking sharp. Jaime never missed a day, and would always find ways to strengthen his team. In his spare time he loved listening to music and dancing with his family. We hope that his family finds peace through this very difficult time."

Left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Olga; children Jaime and David; grandson, Noah; and his brothers, as well as extended family members and a host of friends. Hawkins Family Funeral Home in Fort Worth is handling funeral arrangements. Mr. Soto will be laid to rest Feb. 13 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth.
