Meet the Officers
Hi!! My name is Esther Jeong. I’m a rising senior University Scholar from Dallas, Texas. My concentrations include Medical Humanities and Biology, and I am on the pre-med track. My pathway of interest lies somewhere between addressing socioeconomic disparities, public and global health, and public policy. I have also come to be fascinated by the interdisciplinary work in the health field such as how economics, art, anthropology, and politics are at play. Please, reach out if you would like to talk about any of these things! During my free time, I love going on hikes (mainly casual walks), watching movies with friends, and cooking all kinds of foods! Can’t wait to get to know you all!
Hey guys! My name is Brandon Swinney. I'm a Senior University Scholars major concentrating in Biochemistry and Philosophy. I'm on the pre-med track at Baylor, and I'm looking to become either a family practitioner or a neurosurgeon (I'd be happy to talk about these interests any time!). My main hobbies include rock climbing, making people coffee, and playing guitar. I'm super excited to help lead PHM this year and am looking forward to getting to know you!
Heya! I’m Alice, a Junior Medical Humanities major with a minor in Religion on the pre-med track. I am looking into many fields including OB-GYN, Radiology, Plastic Surgery, and Oncology. My interests usually sit in the crossroads of medicine and religion, including how we use our bodies to implement spiritual practices. Additionally, I am always game for conversations around reproductive justice, public policy, and environmentalism. I enjoy practicing yoga, experimenting with new recipes, and hiking Texas state parks. I am honored to get to work with all the lovely people on the lead team and in PHM.
Hey! I’m Naya & I’m from College Station, Texas. I’m a rising junior University Scholars major concentrating in medical humanities with minors in Biology and Religion on the pre-med track. Hi everyone! My name is Sher Isada and I am a senior University Scholars major studying Poverty Studies, Public Health, and Biology. After I graduate, I plan to go to medical school and obtain an MD/MPH by bridging together poverty intervention and medicine. I am very passionate about addressing the different social determinants of health and seeing how it affects different communities. I love trying different foods, listening to different types of music and have a Spotify playlist for basically everything. If you ever need any book recommendations or a friend to go on a run with, feel free to reach out to me! Can’t wait to meet all of you!
Student Wellness Co-Coordinator
Heyyy! My name is Anu and I’m from Houston, TX. I’m a junior Neuroscience major and Leadership in Medicine minor on the pre-med track. I am also a student in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core. Being in the BIC, it comes as no surprise that I’m interested in learning about seemingly divergent subjects that tie back together and craft the reality we experience today. Outside of my major, I’m super fascinated by all art forms, public policy, culture, music, and sociology. Hit me up anytime if you wanna chat about the most random topics! Outside of school, I enjoy learning languages, trying new foods and restaurants, procrastinating homework by watching Netflix, going on trips with friends, and more!
Student Wellnes Co-Coordinator
Hello! My name is Celine and I am a Senior Biology major on the pre-med track from Alberta, Canada. Professionally, I hope to pursue a career in primary care for underserved populations, specifically working in refugee communities. I grew up with an acute awareness of the privilege that access to healthcare is, and I want to be a part of the solution in bridging this gap. I have a passion for all things Global Health and Health Promotion. Aside from academics and extracurriculars, I practice yoga, enjoy cooking elaborate meals, and am a huge podcast listener.
Sophomore Class Coordinator
Hey! My name is Lily and I am a senior biochemistry major from Chicago, IL. I am pursuing minors in biology and sociology and am on the premed track. At the moment, I am really interested in surgery and hope to practice as a general surgeon. Studying sociology and working in healthcare in Chicago and Waco has piqued my interest in minimizing healthcare disparities and I hope to practice in an area where I can serve primarily underserved groups. Outside of school, you can probably find me in a coffee shop (/Dunkin’ drive thru) or running around McLane. I love music and am always down to listen to new bands!
Hi! My name is Maria Pratt and I’m from Springdale, Arkansas! I am a senior Science Research Fellow with minors in math and biochemistry on the pre-med track. In the future, I hope to practice medicine in the field of oncology and conduct research as well! Around campus, I am involved in MAPS, AED, and the Kebaara Lab. For fun, I like to take walks, listen to podcasts, bake brownies, and hang out at any coffee shop! If you ever want to try a new coffee place around Waco, please hit me up! I’m so excited to get to know you guys!!
Hey guys! My name is Sri Pulipaka and I’m a biochemistry major and sociology minor from Frisco, Texas. I’m on the pre-med track, and in the future, I would love to go into pediatrics, family medicine, or oncology. My goal is to practice in a setting where I can develop long-term patient relationships, but on a larger scale, I am very interested in preventative/primary care, affordable healthcare, and how our healthcare system can be improved to make both of these a reality for everyone. Outside of school, I love to watch movies (any genre, but horror/thriller especially), play basketball and tennis, and try out new cooking recipes with friends. I do most of my studying in my room, so if you see me on campus, feel free to say hi and chat!
