Polly Anderson, vice president for development and marketing at Alabama Public Television, has been named president and CEO of Brazos Valley Public Broadcasting Foundation, effective July 1. In her new capacity, Anderson will provide day-to-day leadership for Central Texas PBS and NPR affiliates KWBU-TV and KWBU-FM.
At APT, Anderson has been responsible for generating $2.5 million in annual revenue through the Birmingham-based network's development division, including membership, underwriting and major giving. She also has responsibility for internal and external communication and assists with state and national governmental relations.
"Polly was the unanimous choice of the search committee, which was impressed with her track record in fund-raising, public broadcasting management and community involvement," said Larry D. Brumley, chairman of Brazos Valley Public Broadcasting Foundation. "She brings to this key leadership position the skills and experience that KWBU needs to strengthen its service to the community."
Prior to joining APT in 2003, Anderson served for seven years as director of corporate support for WUFT-TV/FM, the University of Florida's public television and radio stations. She also has served in various marketing and communications positions with non-profits and businesses in Florida, including the Hippodrome State Theatre in Gainesville.
A native of the Tampa Bay area, Anderson holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of South Florida. She currently serves on the PBS Foundation Station Advisory Council and is a member of the National Educational Television Association's Development Council. Anderson is a former president of the Gainesville chapter of the American Advertising Federation.
"KWBU TV and FM have built a strong foundation of service to the Central Texas community," Anderson said. "I look forward to building on that foundation as I join the stations and their partners to continue providing quality public broadcasting."
Affiliated with National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), KWBU serves more than 80,000 people a week through its public radio, television and educational outreach programs. It is a service of Brazos Valley Public Broadcasting Foundation, Baylor University and its member listeners/viewers and underwriters, and is one of only 76 joint licensees (public television and radio) in the nation.
