Timothy O'Connor joins faculty as Distinguished Professor of Philosophy

The department is excited to welcome Dr. Timothy O'Connor as our newest Distinguished Professor of Philosophy. Dr. O'Connor will begin teaching Fall 2017.

O'Connor holds both a B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy from Univeristy of Illinois at Chicago, as well as both an M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Cornell University. In addition, he's taught for 24 years at Indiana University, Bloomington, with visiting research appointments at Notre Dame, St. Andrews, and Oxford.

O'Connor works primarily in metaphysics, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of religion and has written extensively on metaphysics issues concerning human free will and human action, mental states and their relationship to brain states, and the nature of God and God’s relationship to the natural world.
