Work and Education
Mary Bruce is a lecturer at the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. She teaches classes on the maturing family and community and culture. She also instructs students during labs and clinicals. Mary received her BSN and MEd from the University of Central Oklahoma and completed her MSN at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Currently, she is enrolled at the University of Texas Arlington working towards a PhD in nursing.

Before her time at Baylor, Mary Bruce taught nursing at North Central Texas College and at Metro Tech in Oklahoma City. She has also spent over ten years working as a registered nurse in various locations. Moreover, along with practical nursing experience, Bruce has over 15 years of experience in nursing administration. At Living Centers of America in Oklahoma City, Bruce was corporate nursing quality advisor while at Southwest Health Care Management, Inc., she served as an assistant corporate nursing supervisor.

Committees/Organizations/Awards
At Baylor, Mary Bruce has assisted many committees and programs. She has been a member of LHSON committees: Faculty Committee, Missions Committee, and Academic Affairs Committee. She has also led student mission trips to Cary, Mississippi as the lead faculty member for many years. Finally, Bruce serves as a Baylor University Geriatric Expert Representative to the Baylor Health Care System and she works hard to better nursing care for the elderly.

Articles and Presentations
Bruce has given many presentations on the topic of geriatric nursing. At Care of the Older Adult: Real World Applications Conference, she presented “Common Emergencies in Geriatric Patient." At the GNI conference at Baylor, Garland Hospital, she delivered a presentation called "What You Don’t Know Can Hurt the Older Population." Bruce also helped develop three modules for the Archie MD: “Fall Risk Identification in Older Adults," “Altered Illness Presentation," and “Elder Abuse."
