Work and Education
Dr. Coley is new to Baylor University. She has been in nursing education full-time since 2013. She has prior teaching experience in both undergraduate and graduate programs. Before starting at Baylor, she most recently served as faculty member and then as the Director of Nursing for Grayson College.
Dr. Coley worked as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Departments, before returning to school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her prior work as an FNP includes community health, family health, and pulmonology.
Committees
In the past, Dr. Coley has served on statewide committees regarding nursing education, including serving as a nursing education representative at the Future of Nursing Summit hosted by the Texas Board of Nursing in 2020. She is currently appointed to the Texas Nurses Association’s Nursing Education and Workforce Committee, which is a 2 year appointment. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is also a member of the Texas Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association.
Articles and Presentations
Outside the classroom, Dr. Coley has contributed to nursing education with poster presentations and has served on panel discussions regarding nursing education.
Community
Finally, Dr. Coley is involved in her local community. Aside from spending time with her husband and stepson, she is an active member of her local Baptist Church. She also serves on the Board of a non-profit organization, Katybugs and Butterflies, which is dedicated to supporting families in Texoma affected by childhood cancer.
