Work and Education
Dr. Jakki Opollo has an extensive healthcare background spanning clinical, administrative, leadership, research and education roles. She has served as a part time lecturer at Baylor LHSON since 2016. In this role, she has been responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing evaluation of content and curriculum for: Nursing 5390 Innovative and Global Nursing Practice: Master of Science in Nursing Leadership & Innovation graduate program and Nursing 5382 Health Policy and Advocacy for the Nurse Leader: Master of Science in the Nursing Leadership & Innovation graduate program
Dr. Opollo is a member of the Board of directors for Texas Nurses Association (TNA) District -4. She holds memberships in professional organizations including Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Honor Society for Nurses, Texas Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, National League of Nursing and the American Organization of Nurse Executives

Dr. Opollo has published several articles in peer reviewed journals and presented locally, nationally and internationally. Her research and presentation interest area is centered on nursing excellence and promoting positive practice environments globally
Dr. Opollo is the Founder and President of Lovebound International Corporation, a nonprofit organization registered in Dallas, TX seeking to advance health and social development goals in Kenya and beyond. Dr. Opollo possesses a unique worldview and international experience that is highly desirable in today’s increasingly global community. Her passion for the field of healthcare and its worldwide effects is exemplified by her travels to Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, Zambia and Jamaica.

Dr. Opollo has been the recipient of numerous nursing excellence awards including the 2017 Texas Nurses Association District Four, Nurse of the Year Award, 2016 Ethel Ransom Humanitarian & Cultural Club recognition for post UTA graduation accomplishments, 2016 D-Magazine for Nursing Excellence: Nurses Conducting Research, 2011 DFW Great 100 Nurse Award, 2012 Finalist, Nurse.Com GEM Nursing Award for Service and Volunteerism, 2007 Employee of the Year by the Dallas Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) and 2006 HCA Frist Humanitarian Award.
