Work and Education
Dr. Edmonson is currently enrolled in the ACU DNP program and is expecting to graduate December 2019. She has taught nursing since 1990 for ADN and BSN programs. The last 8 years have been for Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. Her years of teaching have been significantly focused on psychiatric/mental health, although teaching experience includes nearly 20 years as instructor for J1 medical-surgical nursing clinical, fundamentals of nursing, and health assessment lab. Past faculty duties have included the responsibility of coordinating all psychiatric clinical experiences for the ADN program where she taught before Baylor LHSON. Work history has included many years as a psychiatric nurse temporary for numerous facilities throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.
Professor Edmonson has served the Louise Herring School of Nursing through faculty and committee activities as Undergraduate Student Advisement, Undergraduate Academic Policy, and Faculty Affairs Committee.
Presentations and Scholarly work
Outside the classroom, Professor Edmonson promotes the profession of nursing through career presentations to student groups in other universities. She has worked with Dr. Silvestri as a reviewer for the NCLEX-RN Comprehensive Review. She engages with peers in professional organizations through membership activities, attending Capital and Policy Watch events with Texas Nurse Practitioners, training offered through American Psychiatric Nurses Association, and Nurses Christian Fellowship. She is proud to be a member of Sigma Theta Tau.
Janice Edmonson and her husband maintain involvement in their church community through volunteer activities that include teaching weekly Bible studies and Vacation Bible School. She has enjoyed participating in and supporting church related and Baylor organized missions.
