Work and Education
Professor Tynes has been teaching Medical-Surgical nursing at Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing for 6 years and recently earned the title of Clinical Assistant Professor. She teaches Medical-Surgical nursing in the classroom, in the lab, and in the clinical setting. Her lectures are informed by textbooks, current evidence based practice research articles and her 30 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience. Mrs. Tynes worked at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas for over 26 years prior to coming to Baylor. She also has Community and Home Health nursing experience. Mrs. Tynes is a member of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN) and Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI).
Professor Tynes has served on various Nursing School Committees during her time at Baylor. These include the Undergraduate Academic Policy Committee, the Undergraduate Academic Affairs Committee, the Missions Committee and the Faculty Affairs Committee. She has also served as a Faculty Advisor.
Articles and Presentations
Professor Tynes has made several presentations outside of the classroom. She presented at Indiana Wesleyan University’s Innovations in Faith Based Nursing Conference in 2014. She presented at the AMSN Annual Convention in 2013. In 2012, she presented at the STTI Eta Gamma Chapter during Baylor’s Alumni Weekend event. She has made numerous other local and international presentations including teaching at Nam Dinh University in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Cindy Tynes is actively involved in her community both locally and internationally. She was the Faculty Leader for the LHSON delegation to Lima, Peru in 2013, 2014 and 2015 where she led nursing students to do a clinic in an impoverished area of Peru. She was part of the LHSON delegation to Hanoi, Vietnam in 2012. She is also actively involved in missions with her church where she has done ministry in several areas of Texas and Mexico since 1996. She actively participates in other LHSON and local community ministries.
