Baylor's Jazz Ensemble in Virtual Concert

The Baylor University Jazz Ensemble’s next concert will be presented without an in-person audience, but viewers at home will be able to see the performance by going to the School of Music website for an online livestreaming opportunity. This concert will take place on Tuesday, November 10, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The 18-member Jazz Ensemble is led by Alex Parker, Senior Lecturer in Jazz Studies and Director of the Wayne Fisher Jazz Program at Baylor University.
The program will open with Rufus Reid’s “The Meddler,” as arranged by Alan Baylock.
Then the Jazz Ensemble will play the world premiere of “Black Swan” by a former member of the group, pianist and composer Chris Bandy.
Also to be heard is Fred Sturm’s “Cerulean Sky.” That will feature a solo performance by saxophonist Cole Allex, a senior Instrumental Music major from Harlingen.
Concluding the program will be the John Clayton arrangement of “Squatty Roo” by Johnny Hodges.
