Baylor University’s Concert Jazz Ensemble will present its first concert of the fall semester with a program on Tuesday, October 3, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall, which is located within the Glennis McCrary Music Building. The Concert Jazz Ensemble is led by Alex Parker, Senior Lecturer in Jazz Studies and Director of the Wayne Fisher Jazz Program at Baylor University.
Opening the program will be “Blue Five Jive” by Benny Carter, Bob Mintzer’s “Mr. Funk,” and “Walkin’ About” by Thad Jones.
Then the Concert Jazz Ensemble will play the Mark Taylor arrangement of Freddie Hubbard’s “Red Clay,” an arrangement by Mike Tomaro of Gerry Mulligan’s “Jeru,” and “A Hymn for Her” by Fred Sturm.
Don Menza’s “Back Home” will be heard next, followed by the Michael Philip Mossman setting of “Afro Blue” by Mongo Santamaria.
