Pianist Sara Daneshpour on Baylor's Lyceum Series

Sara Daneshpour, whose performances have earned high accolades worldwide from audiences and critics alike, will present a Lyceum Series recital on Tuesday, October 28, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Roxy Grove Hall.
Ms. Daneshpour won First Prize in the XII Concours International de Musique du Maroc (Morocco, 2012), Second Prize in the 2007 William Kapell International Piano Competition, First Prize in the 2007 International Russian Music Piano Competition, and First Prize in the 2003 Beethoven Society of America Competition. She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied under Leon Fleisher. She earned her master’s degree from the Juilliard School, studying under Yoheved Kaplinsky, and she has also studied extensively under the direction of Oleg Volkov. 

Sara Daneshpour has performed in her native Washington, D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Russia, Germany, Finland, Estonia, Denmark, and Sweden. She has been heard on stages of such prestigious venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Carnegie Hall in New York, and at the Great Hall of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. She has also been a featured artist, from coast to coast, on National Public Radio.
Her Baylor University recital will open with “El amor y la muerte” from the piano suite Goyescas by Spanish composer Enrique Granados and then the brilliant, three-movement Gaspard de la nuit by French composer Maurice Ravel.
Following intermission, Ms. Daneshpour will play two sonatas by Italian composer Domenico Scarlatti and then four of the Études-tableaux of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Concluding the program will be Piano Sonata No. 7 in B-flat major, Op. 83, by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev.
