Baylor's Jazz Ensemble in Fall Concert

The Baylor University Jazz Ensemble will present its second program of the 2014/2015 concert season on Monday, October 20, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall, located within the Glennis McCrary Music Building.
This talented group of nineteen young musicians performs under the leadership of Alex Parker, Continuing Lecturer in Jazz Studies and Director of the Baylor University Jazz Program.
Opening the concert will be Benny Carter’s “The Swizzle,” an arrangement by Rick Hills of Don Grolnick’s “Nothing Personal,” and “Na Kohola” (“The Whales”) from Geoffrey Keezer’s Southeast Alaska Suite.
Also to be heard are Steve Wiest’s “Second Thought,” Oliver Nelson’s arrangement of “Cyclops” by Nat Adderley, Bob Florence’s “Only You,” and “Abstraktes Bild” (“Abstract Image”) by Fred Sturm. Performing as vocalist in “Only You” will be Jenna Davies, a sophomore from Aurora, Illinois.
The program will conclude with the John Clayton setting of Sonny Stitt’s “The Eternal Triangle.”
