The Baylor University Flute Ensembles—fifteen talented musicians from the studio of Assistant Professor of Flute Francesca Arnone—will present their fall concert on Sunday, September 21, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Meadows Recital Hall, located within the Glennis McCrary Music Building. Joining them for this concert will be the Baylor Honor Flutes, six the Waco area’s finest high school and middle school flutists. Student conductors will be Elyse Senteney and Jillian Storey.
The Baylor Honor Flutes will open the concert with the “Badinerie” movement from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Suite No. 2 in B minor, BWV 1067, and then Epigrams from 1985 by Anne McGinty.
The Baylor Flute Ensembles will play Pontchartrain from 2011 by Valerie Coleman, the Anne McGinty arrangements of Erik Satie’s Three Gymnopédies, Bruce Behnke’s flute setting of the Mother Goose Suite by Maurice Ravel, and Fluten II by Vincenzo Sorrentino.
Concluding the program, all twenty-one flutists will join forces for a performance “Amazing Grace,” as arranged by Jennifer Higdon.
This concert is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, call the Baylor University School of Music at 254-710-3991.
