Susan Stone Li is an opera production specialist with a diverse skillset and passion for training students who will become professional colleagues. Through her ability to transition classical production aesthetics into non-traditional spaces, Ms. Li has served in various roles for many opera companies. Most recently, as Assistant Director for Seven Deadly Sins, for Wolf Trap Opera, staged in a converted warehouse. In 2016, Ms. Li created a social media initiative for Wolf Trap Opera's social engagement program called "The Lucretia Project." This initiative was noted by Anne Midget in the Washington Post's review of WTO's production of The Rape of Lucretia. In 2011, Ms. Li began working as Assistant Director and Revival Director for Houston Grand Opera. She was engaged by Opera in the Heights, to direct new productions of Verdi's Rigoletto, & Pagliacci, by Leoncavallo. In 2015 The Atlanta Opera engaged Ms. Li to direct the spring studio tour of The Marriage of Figaro. Upcoming engagements include directing for Baylor Opera Theater, and staging La cambiale di matrimonio, by Rossini at Opera Southwest.
