School of Music

Musicology

The study of music history is a crucial part of any musician's education. Through this study, students become well-rounded musicians who understand the manifold traditions, styles and cultural contexts through which music has defined itself, and continues to do so.

All music history and musicology courses are taught by faculty members who are actively involved in cutting edge research and performance, on topics ranging from Europe in the Middle Ages to Texas in the 20th century and Latin America in the 21st.
