The Wayne Fisher Jazz Program at Baylor University features two big bands, the Baylor Jazz Ensemble and the Concert Jazz Ensemble, and provides students with the opportunity to play and perform music from a wide range of styles and musical eras, from the classic selections of the Swing Era to the cutting-edge big band compositions of today. These ensembles perform several times throughout the academic year both on and off campus.

The program also features a variety of jazz combos that meet weekly throughout the school year with a faculty instructor. These small-group settings of between four and nine musicians provide the students with the opportunity to learn and apply the techniques and skills of interactive, improvisatory playing that is the hallmark of jazz music. Every jazz combo presents an on-campus recital at the end of each semester, and many of the groups also perform publically at off-campus venues throughout the year.
