Joy Summar-Smith is the Senior Vice-President of Interpretation at the Dr Pepper Museum & Free Enterprise Institute in Waco. She joined the staff of the DPMFEI as the Archives Associate in 2002 and has spent the past 15 years supporting the interpretation of Waco’s locally invented favorite, Dr Pepper through research, writing, exhibit design, program development, and object and document preservation.

Ms. Summar-Smith has previously held positions at the James K. Polk Ancestral Home in Columbia, TN, the Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village in Waco, and Historic Waco Foundation. She is active in the Museum Association of Waco and the Texas Association of Museums. She serves on the board of the Brazos Trails Region. Her specialty is exhibit design.
