Love Local Teams
Love, live, and serve right here in Waco through Local Mission Teams!
What if Waco were a little different by the time you graduated because you chose to invest in someone's life? What if you were transformed because of the time you gave each week? There are countless opportunities for you to love your neighbor and Love Where You Live through Love Local missions.
Love Local Mission Teams
Love Local Teams partner with Waco organizations and churches to engage in the greater Waco community through relationship building and service.
We believe God calls us to love our neighbor and Love Local Teams seeks to facilitate this as we provide opportunities to engage in weekly service.
Each team is student-led and partners with community organizations in Waco to support the great work they are doing. All Baylor students are invited to join a team and serve consistently with that team all year long. Teams serve in variety of contexts, from community clean ups with Keep Waco Beautiful, afterschool programs with Mission Waco, AfterSchool Academies, and Blue House, to community engagement with the Mayborn Museum.
If you are interested in serving locally, and will ask each student selected for a team to commit to serving for the duration of each service sites program, between 1 1/2 and 3 hours per week, for 9 weeks during the semester. Additionally, there will be a once a month mandatory meeting for all Local Mission Team participants. When you submit your application, you will be able to list preferences for the available service sites this spring, and while we will do our best to accommodate your top request, the number of spots on each team is limited and may have to place you with your second or third preferences. We appreciate your willingness to serve where you are needed and flexibility with this!
