Partnering and staying with Igelsia Bautista de Metropolis in Carolina, Puerto Rico (outside of San Juan) to help with ongoing hurricane/community relief projects including a build project.
NO PASSPORT REQUIRED! Open to first year students of all majors interested in serving together over spring break! Great for students who live in one of the traditional first year experience halls (Martin, Collins, Kokernot, Penland, UHouse, and Texana) OR any first-year friend who'd like to join in!
One of the goals of living in a first-year hall is to focus on the Student Life learning objective of "Community." Our hope is to engage the conversation about authentic Christian community through the action of serving others in need. While not all college students can donate money to aid others in need, we hope to show that we can offer our strength, compassion, and our time as a way to provide aid. We intend to provide space for reflection during times of the trip in order to help students stretch and grow. We are seeking transformational education by engaging students outside the classroom through service, and aiding them in their learning through reflection.
