Shuttle Van Service Now Offered at Baylor

January 23, 1996

Baylor University has started a new shuttle van service to increase safety efforts in an around campus.
The "Baylor Shuttle" will pick up and drop students off from residential areas within one block of campus from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.
According to Student Body President Collin Cox, the objectives of the escort service are to promote safety for the students as well as to encourage students to use the facilities on campus.
In the past, students were escorted to and from campus via squad cars. The transition to a van was made to free patrol cars for emergency situations, Cox said.
Jim Doak, director of the Baylor Department of Public Safety, said approximately 3,000 students have requested escort transportation around campus.
