Baylor University's Division of Music Education will sponsor the Children's Choir Workshop led by Mary Goetze, an internationally known teacher, conductor, and composer, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in Meadows Recital Hall, located in the Glennis McCrary Music Building.
There is no charge for the workshop, which is sponsored jointly by the Meadows Foundation, the Joy Vee Davis Memorial Endowed Fund for Music Education and the Baylor University School of Music.
Goetze is the director of the Indiana University Children's Chorus. Her compositions and arrangements for children's voices are published by Boosey & Hawkes in the Mary Goetze Choral Series. In June of 1993 she presented more than 35 workshops throughout Australia.
In addition to academic degrees from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Indiana University, and the University of Colorado, she holds certification in Kodaly and Orff-Schulwerk methods and has received several national awards for her scholarship and contributions to music education.
More than 70 teachers have already signed up to attend the workshop. Seating is limited, and interested persons who wish to reserve a seat and a packet of music should call Dr. Barbara Bennett at 755-3264 as soon as possible.
