Baylor Jazz Ensembles to Perform Dec. 4

The Jazz Ensembles of Baylor University will present a joint concert at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in Jones Concert Hall. The performance will be conducted by Vern Sielert, lecturer in jazz studies.
Jazz Ensemble II will open the concert with Bob Mintzer's "Nice 'n' Easy Blues," Les Hooper's arrangement of the familiar "Tiger Rag," Dee Barton's arrangement of the Jimmy Van Huesen/Johnny Burke composition "Here's That Rainy Day," and finally Steve Wiest's "Ceiling Dogs."
Jazz Ensemble I's portion of the program will consist of Sammy Nestico's "Freckle Face," Mike Loveless' "The Poet," Mike Crotty's arrangement of the traditional "We Three Kings," and Victor Young's popular "Stella by Starlight" (as arranged by Bill Holman).
The concert will conclude with one of conductor Vern Sielert's own compositions, "Blues for Sunny."
