Baylor to Host Dr. James Mcclendon Jr. As Visiting Professor

Dr. James William McClendon Jr., Distinguished-Scholar-in-Residence at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., will be visiting Baylor University during the month of October as a Distinguished Professor of Religion. McClendon's visit is part of Baylor's Sesquicentennial celebration.
McClendon recently participated in the symposium marking the inauguration of Baylor President Dr. Robert B. Sloan Jr. and is considered one of the foremost Baptist theologians in the world. His work in systematic theology, philosophy of religion and ethics has received international acclaim, not just in the field of religious studies, but also from scholars in a wide range of disciplines.
He holds degrees from the University of Texas, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Princeton Theological Seminary. McClendon is also an ordained Baptist minister.
McClendon will meet with interested Baylor faculty members on Tuesday evenings during the month of October to examine the relationship between Christian identity and the academic tasks of the contemporary university. He will also be discussing Convictions: Diffusing Religious Relativism, a book McClendon co-authored with James M. Smith.
