Popular children's author and science teacher extraordinaire Janice VanCleave will bring her Science Extravaganza to the Mayborn Museum Aug. 1 to celebrate National KidsDay.
VanCleave, author of more than four dozen books including "200 Gooey, Slippery, Weird & Fun Experiments," will present oozing demonstrations and get the audience involved in performing magical and bizarre experiments. She will give presentations at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.
A native Texan, VanCleave presents her "Fun with Science" workshops at libraries, schools, museums and bookstores throughout the United States.
National KidsDay was started in 2001 and is celebrated the first Sunday in August to honor America's children. The event, led by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in partnership with KidsPeace, promotes adults and children spending meaningful time together.
The Mayborn Museum invites visitors to spend time together on National KidsDay enjoying science and exploring our museum. The museum is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for children.
