Baylor to Host Parents Weekend Sept. 29-30

Baylor University parents from across the country will visit the Baylor campus during the annual Parents Weekend Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29-30.
The weekend will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the Steve Hudson Memorial Bear Plaza where parents can see the Baylor mascots Judge Bill "Billy" Boyd and Judge R.E.B. "Bobby" Baylor. At 4 p.m. in the Bill Daniel Student Center (BDSC), parents will listen to lectures by several of Baylor's top professors during the "Baylor in Focus" session. Dr. Thomas Hanks, Jr., professor of English, Dr. Manuel Ortuño, professor of Spanish and chair of Modern Foreign Languages, and Dr. Robert Packard, professor of physics and Master Teacher, will speak in the Baines, Beckham, and Houston Rooms, respectively.
At 5 p.m. Robert Reid, Distinguished Professor of History and Master Teacher, will discuss Baylor history in the Barfield Drawing Room of the BDSC. From 7-9 p.m. in Waco Hall, parents will be entertained during After Dark, a variety show performed by Baylor students. The evening will end with a dessert party at the Burleson Quadrangle.
At 8 a.m. Saturday, a parent-faculty coffee will be held at the Fountain Mall and Baylor will play Texas Tech University at 11 a.m. in Floyd Casey Stadium.
At 5 p.m. Baylor parents will have dinner on the grounds at the Gov. Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village which will feature an address by Baylor President Robert B. Sloan Jr.
