'Distance Learning' to Be Discussed at Baylor Sept. 18-19

Baylor University's Graduate School will host Dr. Bruce Chaloux, an expert on distance learning via telecommunications, from 2:15-3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, in the Meadows Recital Hall of the McCrary Music Building, and from 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the Barfield Drawing Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center.
Dr. Chaloux will assess what "distance learning" means today, and will discuss the technologies that are used to develop and deliver distance learning applications. He also will pose policy questions and other ramifications of this technology for the next century.
"This subject is critical to the future of virtually every profession," said Dr. Cheryl Gonce-Warner, associate dean of the Graduate School. "Dr. Chaloux's presentation will stimulate vigorous discussion on the challenges that will face all of us."
Chaloux is associate dean of the Graduate School at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Va. He holds degrees from Castleton State College in Castleton, Vt.; the University of Florida and Florida State University.
